Weslaco- Beatriz Garza Cavazos, 85, entered into Eternal Rest on Saturday, March 30, 2024 at Valley Baptist Medical Center in Harlingen. She passed away peacefully surrounded by her four children.
Beatriz was born in Mercedes, Texas to Francisco Garza and Isabel Villarreal Garza on February 7, 1939.
She was preceded in death by her adoring husband of 61 years, Noe H. Cavazos, her parents, her brother, Rodolfo Garza and sister, Maria Elena Cisneros.
Left to cherish her memory are her four dear children, Glenda Ann Vigen (Gary), Mark Andrew Cavazos (Letty), Michael Anthony Cavazos (Maria Teresa Hincapie) and Gloria Aileen Vann (Andre), and grandchildren Kurtis Whaley, Catherine Vigen, Nicolas Vigen (Angela), Elizabeth Vigen (Stevie), Stephanie Vigen, Sofia Vann, Christian Cavazos, Gabriella Vann, Briana Cavazos, Josiah Vann, Noah Vann and great-granddaughter, Parker Bea Vigen. She is also survived by her sisters, Margaret Garcia (Nemencio) and Gloria Morales (Joe) and many nieces and nephews whom she deeply loved.
BB, as she was known by, graduated from Mercedes High School in 1959 and married Noe Cavazos in 1961. She graduated from Pan American University with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Bilingual Education in 1981. Beatriz was a life-long educator beginning her career in La Villa ISD and eventually retiring from Donna ISD. Teaching was her passion and she found great purpose in helping student's prepare for their futures. She loved going to the beach, traveling, gardening, cooking, arts and crafts and listening to music. She also enjoyed being an active member of the St. Pius X Catholic Daughters. But, her greatest joy was spending quality time with her children, grandchildren, family and friends.
Beatriz lived a full life as a wonderful mother, homemaker, grandmother, sister and aunt. By example she instilled strong values in her children. As in Luke 8:1, she reminded her children that they should always pray and "if you stumble or fall, get up and do not give up." She had a big heart and lit up a room with her kind spirit and friendly presence. BB was a devout Catholic who believed in the power of prayer. She will be greatly missed by all!
Visitation for Mrs. Beatriz G. Cavazos will be held at Salinas Funeral Home in Weslaco, Texas on Thursday, April 4, 2024 from 2:00 pm to 9:00 pm with a Rosary recited by the Catholic Daughters at 7:00 pm. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, April 5, 2024 at 2:00pm at St. Pius X Catholic Church, 600 S. Oklahoma Ave. Weslaco, TX. 78596. Burial will follow on Monday, April 8, 2024 at 10:00 am at The Rio Grande Valley State Veterans Cemetery in Mission, Texas where she will be reunited with her husband.
Having the distinguished honor to serve as Pallbearers are: Nicolas Vigen, Christian Cavazos, Josiah Vann, Noah Vann, Sergio Cisneros, Joseph Morales and J.F Cisneros.
Funeral Services have been entrusted to Salinas Funeral Home of Weslaco.
