Elsa- Cory Wellington Tharpe, 45, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, October 14, 2023 in Gunderson Health System in Wisconsin.
Mr. Tharpe was born on August 19, 1978 to Mr. Jerry Tyler Tharpe and Mrs. Robin Michell Gibbs Tharpe in Warren, Michigan.
Cory attended school at Hazel Park Mi, and graduated from South Texas College as a Certified Diesel Mechanic. Equally, he excelled in construction and started his own company, Presidential Residential Construction. He donated his time to helping others, whether in the church or with his loved ones. His greatest accomplishments in life, however, were his daughters Sabrina and Shiloh. He had a zest for life and anyone that was ever around him felt his presence and his light and laughter.
Cory was an extraordinary individual whose life was marked by both struggles and moments of profound resilience. His decision to become an organ donor showcase the depth of his spirit, as he chose to provide hope and healing to those in need, even in his final moments.
Though the family lost a great man, five other families had a chance to continue with their loved ones, as gift of life was granted to others. Cory was among the rare 2% who had the opportunity to give life. At the request of the surgeons and the University of Wisconsin Medical Staff, a playlist was compiled by several of his loved ones, so that those in the operating room could listen to his favorite music and be able to honor him and his memory. Family from Michigan, Maine and Texas wrote letters to Cory that were read to him in his room, as surgeons privately shared with other surgical teams representing the five recipients in the operating room.
The family eagerly awaits the recording of the Honor Walk from the Gundersen Lutheran Hospital media team, so that they may share with his loved ones. The presence of accomplished medical fields who came to honor Cory ad the girls made the last moments truly extraordinary. Additionally, the hospital raised a flag in his honor, which remained raised for two days, allowing the community to pay their respects.
We know he chose to stay in peace, in true and pure love with his Heavenly Father, and with his Mama Robin, Daddy Jerry, & Auntie Sabrina.
Mr. Tharpe is preceded in death by his parents, Mr. Jerry Tyler Tharpe and Mrs. Robin Michell Gibbs Tharpe.
Left to cherish his memories are his daughters, Sabrina Tharpe and Shiloh Tharpe; mother of his children, Vanessa Caraveo; his brother Caleb Tharpe; his sisters, Tiffany Tharpe and Kyra Tharpe; his nieces, Victoria Janell, Lena Grace Roman, Ellanie Joy Roman, Vianna Love Roman and Abbriella Faith Roman.
