Emma O. Mata

Brownsville — Emma O. Mata, 96, passed away Thursday, August 6, 2020, at her residence.

Mrs. Mata was born October 7, 1923, in Carricitos, Texas daughter of Severiano Olivarez and Simona Vento. She is preceded in death by her husband, Agustin Mata; her parents; a son, Ernesto Mata; brothers, Ernesto Olivares, Primitivo Olivares, sisters, Severa Serna, Ofelia Ramos, Lydia Abundis, Manuela Ramos; sons-in-law, Jaime Brito and Juan Jose Castellano.

Left to cherish her memory are her children, Simona Fernandez (Adolfo), Elia Brito, Alfredo Mata (Maria Elena), Belinda Mata, Jaime Mata (Maricela), Maria Hilda Fuentes; sister, Genoveve Olivares Moruga. Also surviving her 22 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren

Visitation will be on Sunday, August 16, 2020, from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. with a 6 p.m. Rosary at Salinas Funeral Home — Chapel of the Angels in Brownsville. Funeral service will be on Monday, August 17, 2020, at 11 a.m with interment will follow at Rose Lawn Burial Park in Brownsville.
