Esmeralda Martinez Cortez

Brownsville - Esmeralda Martinez Cortez, 64, passed away Thursday, February 11, 2021 at Valley Baptist Medical Center.

Mrs. Cortez was born September 28, 1955 in Lansing, Michigan, daughter of Baldomero Martinez and Oralia Garza Martinez.She is preceded in death by her husband Tomas Vasquez Cortez; brothers: Julian Bejarano, Bernardo Martinez, Guadalupe; sisters: Antonia Garza, Alicia Martinez, Margarita Martinez, Feliciana Briones.

Left to cherish her memory are her children: Tomas Cortez Jr. (Criselda), Rafael Cortez (Gabriela Garcia), Sindia Cortez (Juan Luis Pena Jr.), Jessica Rodriguez, Brenda Reyna (Jose), Michelle Alanis (Manuel); brothers: Jorge Martinez; Baldomero Martinez Jr., sisters: Aurora Almanza, Maria del Rosario Martinez, Esperanza Vasquez and Sulema Paz. Also surviving her ar 26 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 17, 2021 from 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with a 6:00 p.m. Rosary at Salinas Funeral Home - Chapel of the Heavens in Brownsville. As per her wishes, she will be cremated at a later date.

Funeral services have been entrusted to Salinas Funeral Home in Brownsville.
