Francisca Cavazos

Francisca M. Cavazos, 83, was peacefully called to rest on Saturday, December 3, 2022 in the comfort of her home surrounded by family.

Mrs. Cavazos was born on October 05, 1939 to Mr. Cleofas Mendoza and Mrs. Paula Reyes Mendoza in Mexico.
She met the love of her life her “viejito” as she called him at Mike’s tortilleria in Weslaco and became a devoted wife of 66 years.  Her legacy lives on through her  Loving Husband, Luis Silverio Cavazos; her sons, Andres (Rosalba) Cavazos, Ramiro (Kathy) Cavazos, Jesus (Rosa) Cavazos, Adan (Cindy) Cavazos, Luis (Carol) Cavazos Jr.; her daughters, Yolanda (Jose Luis) Montemayor; her sisters, Esperanza Hernandez, Christina Perez; 23 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren. Regardless if known by Grandma Francis or Hermana Francis, she was well known and loved for her fresh homemade tortillas, bean tacos, tamales, and nopalitos.

Undeniably a hard worker, she took pride in traveling up north for migrant work in the summers. Many of her children and grandchildren were able to experience working alongside her up until she reached the age of 81. When she wasn’t working, she took care of her family and lived saying “mis nietos me dan vida.” Humble and hospitable, she welcomed all who entered her home and made anyone who crossed her path feel loved. She lived her life sharing the word of God and ministering about his love to others. Francisca will be lovingly remembered as part of the congregation of Iglesia de Dios Vivo in Weslaco.

Those who were blessed in life to know the love and presence of Francisca will be able to pay their respects at visitation scheduled for Tuesday, December 13, 2002 from 4:00 to 9:00 pm with a Prayer Service at 7:00 pm at Salinas Funeral Home- Chapel of the Heavens in Weslaco. Visitation will continue on Wednesday, December 14, 2022 from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm followed by a Chapel Service at 1:00 pm at Salinas Funeral Home- Chapel of the Heavens in Weslaco. Interment will follow at Highland Memorial Park in Weslaco.
