Elsa- Lupita Tijerina, our beloved mother, sister and aunt at the age of 65, went to be with our Lord on Tuesday, July 28, 2020. Lupita was born on February 10, 1955 to Guadalupe Silva and Esperanza Ruiz Silva in Weslaco, Texas. She has now joined her beloved mother and father in eternal paradise. Leaving her legacy to uphold her devotion for education and the love for our Lord Jesus Christ to her two daughters; Esperanza Marie Rodriguez (Marco), and Annalizza Tijerina. She will be missed by her sisters: Frances Rocha (Israel), Ninfa Silva, and Lisa Foley (Phillip). Her grandchildren are Armando Esequiel Rodriguez Jr. and JonMarco Rodriguez. Her niece Debbie Martinez (Mike), and nephews Israel Rocha Jr. (Sarah), and Phillip Michael Foley. Her great nephew Danny Martinez and great niece Taylor Martinez.
She graduated from Edcouch-Elsa High School in 1973. Ever since then, she has been a devoted Jacket fan as she is remembered with her famous cheer “GO JACKETS GO!!!” which shall always be remembered for all time! Her love of education began at an early age, upon graduating from high school she began her career in education as a special education teacher assistant at Edcouch-Elsa ISD. It is at this time that she decided to pursue a degree in Elementary Education with a specialization in Special Education and then she graduated from Pan American University with a double Masters in Guidance and Counseling and in Special Education as a Diagnostician. Her love and commitment to education is a legacy that she passed not only to her daughters but to the students of Edcouch-Elsa. She worked as an elementary, middle and high school counselor but the position that was dear to her heart was that as a GEAR UP Facilitator. It was her commitment to impact students’ lives and having them realize that there is no limit to their educational possibilities. She never shied away from sharing her personal experiences of her struggles and determination in reaching her dream … Being a proud educator for 47 years and having a hand in building tomorrow’s leaders.
Annaliz and I will forever hold dear your everlasting words. “If I could give you any gift, I would give you love and laughter. A peaceful heart, a special dream, and joy forever after. Know that you are loved for the little girls you were, for the special women you are, and the precious daughters you will always be. If I could give you one thing in life, I would give you the ability to see yourselves through my eyes. Only then would you realize how special you are to me. As a mother, I promise to be in one of three places; in front of you to cheer you on, behind you to have your back or beside you so you are never alone. Love you always and forever”-Love Mom
Lupita will be laid to rest on Monday, August, 3, 2020 at Highland Memorial Park in Weslaco, TX at 11:00am.
