Mercedes- It is with deep sorrow and profound respect that we announce the passing of Guillermo Reyes Aldana, a cherished husband, father, friend, and community pillar, who left us peacefully on March 20, 2025, at the age of 94. Born on February 10, 1931, in Guatemala City, Guatemala, Guillermo's remarkable journey through life was marked by unwavering dedication to his family, profession, and community.

For 57 years, Guillermo lent his remarkable craftsmanship to the art of boot making at Antonio Sanchez Boots, where his creations adorned the feet of esteemed figures, including Presidents George W. Bush, Bill Clinton, Governors of Texas, Pope John Paul II; as well as actors who graced the silver screen. His legacy as a skilled artisan will be cherished for generations, as each pair of boots served as a testament to his commitment, precision, and passion for his craft.

Beyond his professional achievements, Guillermo was a gifted athlete, having played soccer at a professional level and competed in wrestling. He later contributed to the world of sports as a professional referee, earning respect and admiration for his integrity on and off the field. His love for the beautiful game extended to the community, where he was instrumental in founding the Mercedes Youth & Adults League Soccer Team, nurturing young talent and fostering a sense of camaraderie among players.

Married for 69 loving years to Hilda M. Reyes, Guillermo found joy in the simple pleasures of life. Together, they cultivated a home filled with warmth, kindness, and compassion. Guillermo's friendly demeanor and caring spirit touched the lives of many, as he was known for always lending a helping hand to those in need.

Mr. Reyes held a special place in his heart for his homeland, often reminiscing about the beauty of Guatemala. He embraced the joys of travel, carrying with him a sense of belonging to both his roots and the community he loved in Mercedes, TX.
