Elsa- Irma Madrigal Gallegos went to be with the Lord peacefully at home on September 19, 2020, after a long battle with kidney disease.
She was born to Eligio & Dorotea Madrigal in Elsa, Texas on September 23, 1942, where she was raised and lived most of her life.
She is preceded in death by both her parents, 2 brothers Gregorio (Eva) Madrigal, Cristino (Cecilia) Madrigal 2 sisters Juanita Madrigal & Esperanza (Felix) Rodriguez, and her niece Delia Avila.
Left to cherish her memories are her 6 children, Irma Linda Gallegos Griffin, Consuelo Gallegos Ramirez, Jesus Adolfo Gallegos Jr. Jose Alfredo Gallegos, Dorotea Juanita Gallegos,”Dora Jane’ (Martin) Garcia, Jorge Gallegos, a sister Hortencia (Juan) Garza, and a brother Jose Eligio (Odilia) Madrigal. She is also survived by 24 grandchildren.Javier Ybarra, Jovi Lee Gallegos, Jesus Adolfo Gallegos III, Miguel Angel Ramirez, Alexander Bill Gallegos, Crystal Ann Gallegos, Martin Anthony Garcia, Ronnie Harold Griffin, Jennifer Jane Garcia, Jeanette Jean Garcia, Joshua Ramirez, Sylvia Nicholasa Gallegos, Jayda Janelle Garcia, Jolie Grace Gallegos, Matthew Austin Garcia, Jack Garrett Gallegos, Jesus Adolfo Gallegos, Teresa Juanita Gallegos, Romeo Nathaniel Gallegos, Mario Alekzander Garcia, & Angelly Jane Gallegos, Ivy Marie Davidson, Bo (Rebecca) Davidson, Tara Laken (Joel) Hudson Tucker & 30 Great Grand Children as well as many nieces & nephews.
While raising 6 children Irma got her GED and decided it was time to attend College. She started Pan American University in Edinburg, September 1978 and Graduated May 1983 with a Bachelors of Social Studies Social Work. Soon after receiving her degree she went to work for Texas Rio Grande MHMR in Harlingen, Texas for 15 years. She retired from MHMR in 1998 after being diagnosed with Cardio Myopathy.
On June 18th 2000, thanks to a young man and his family after losing his life in a motorcycle accident, Irma received a new heart, which gave her 20 years and 3 months more of life.
She will be dearly missed by her 6 children, 21 grandchildren and 30 great grand children, her brother, sister many nieces, nephews and friends that she made through out the years.
Visitation for Mrs. Irma Madrigal Montoya is scheduled for Tuesday, September 22, 2020 from 3:00 pm to 8:00 pm with a Holy Rosary at 7:00 pm at Salinas Funeral Home- Chapel of the Angels in Elsa. A Graveside Service will take place on Wednesday, September 23, 2020 at 1:00 pm at Highland Memorial Park in Weslaco.
