Jose Luis Ortega

Weslaco- Jose Luis "Joe" Ortega, 66, went to be with the Lord on Monday, May 23, 2022 at Valley Baptist Medical Center in Harlingen, Texas surrounded by his family.

He was born on August 29, 1955 to Mr. Gerardo Ortega and Mrs. Manuela Rodriguez Ortega in Blue Island, Illinois.

Mr. Ortega is preceded in death his parents, Mr. Gerardo Ortega and Mrs. Manuela Rodriguez Ortega; his brothers, Jesus (Imelda) Ortega, Manuel (Evelyn) Ortega, Eduardo Ortega; his sister, Juanita O. (Clemente) Sanchez; his brother-in-law, Refugio Villalobos.

Left to cherish his memories is his Loving Wife, Reyna Ortega; his daughter, Laura Jo Ortega; his brothers, Enrique (Belia) Ortega, David (Maria Graciela) Ortega, Julian (Delia) Ortega; his sister, Maria Beatrice Villalobos; his sister-in-law, Mary Jane Ortega.

Joe was an avid Dallas Cowboy Fan and enjoyed watching football. He was employed with Weslaco Independent School District for over 25 years serving the district as a campus Security Guard. He was actively involved with the Catholic community serving and volunteering at San Martin de Porres Catholic Church & School in Weslaco. Mr. Ortega also served in the US Army and Texas National Guard for 32 years. He was a proud veteran and honored to serve his country. Mr. Ortega will be missed by all who loved and knew him.

Visitation for Mr. Jose Luis "Joe" Ortega is scheduled for Friday, May 27, 2022 from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm with a Holy Rosary at 7:00 pm at San Martin de Porres Catholic Church (901 N. Texas Blvd.) in Weslaco. A Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, May 28, 2022 at 10:00 am at San Martin de Porres Catholic Church in Weslaco. Interment will follow at Highland Memorial Park.

Funeral Services have been entrusted to Salinas Funeral Home of Elsa.
