Elsa/ Round Rock, Texas- Josefina Trevino, 93 passed away on Saturday, February 27, 2021 in Falcon Ridge Nursing Home in Hutto, Texas.
Josefina was born the second of eight children to Augustin and Refugia Carmen (Lopez) Martinez on March 19, 1927 in Brownsville, Texas. She married Alfredo C. Treviño on May 10, 1953 in Elsa. They spent the early years of their marriage in Illinois and Indiana where their daughter Diana was born. After moving back to the Rio Grande Valley, their sons David and Daniel (Danny) were born in Weslaco, Texas.
Her faith in God was evident as a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Elsa. She and Alfredo were passionate about the ministry of the church's food pantry where they delivered food in the community.
In 1997, Alfredo and Josefina moved to Round Rock, Texas to be close to their children and grandchildren
Josefina is preceded in death by her husband of 45 years, her parents and siblings, Manual Martinez (Cruz), Herminia Will (Kenny), Elida Tate (Paul), and Augustin Martinez Jr.
She is survived by her siblings Celia Nabel (Irwin), Noami Morón (Juan), and Estella Cantu (Carlos). She is also survived by her husband's siblings, Ada Galvan and Lupe Treviño, her childhood friend and sister-in-law Alvina Treviño, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Josefina is also survived by her children Diana de la Fuente (Carlos), David Treviño, and Daniel Treviño (Brian Zunker). She loved her grandchildren, Michelle Walcher (Shawn), Rebecca McCombs (Josh), Lisa Atkinson (Mitch), Mathew Treviño (Aubrey Kohlmeyer), Linda Schilling (Erik), and Jayden Zunker-Treviño.
She loved time spent with her grandchildren and was so proud of her six great grandchildren, Zyden Walcher, KayLeigh Walcher, Miles McCombs, Mai Rose McCombs, Ethan Atkinson, and Isabella Atkinson.
A Graveside Service will be held on Thursday, March 4, 2021 at 1:00 pm at Highland Memorial Park in Weslaco. A livestream will be on our "Salinas Funeral Home of Elsa" facebook page starting at 1:00 pm.
