Lidia Cortez. 56, passed away unexpectedly on May 25, 2022. Though her family and friends are shocked by her passing, they were blessed she was in their lives. Lidia was born in Brownsville where she resided until 2004 when she moved to Houston. She attended Homer Hanna High School and Texas Southmost College where her love for reading was refined. Lidia was a joyful person who genuinely cared for her family and friends. She would go the extra mile to ensure a loved one's happiness. She brightened the room upon entering and made sure everyone was truly cared for always. Family and friends will remember her for her big smile, infectious laugh, her love of reading, flowers, being outdoors and of course her love of music from the 70's and 80's as well as christian music.
Upon moving to Houston she began working as a beauty consultant at Neiman Marcus, Macy's and Dillards. She loved showing her clients the latest trends and timeless classics that proved to bring thers inner beauty outward. She was a christian person who attended Lakewood Church in Houston where her grace and christianity was expanded while listening to bible readings and worships.
She is preceded in death by her father Reynaldo B. Cortez; her mother: Maria Patrocinia Garcia Cortez; her brothers: Javier and Samuel Cortez and her favorite aunt Angelina Garcia Alvarez. She is survived by her siblings Josue Cortez, Jaime Cortez, Leticia Albright (Bruce), Mara Cortez, Lilian Mayo (Charles); her nephews: Carlos Saenz III and Grant M. Albright; Niece: Trinity S. Espinoza; cousin: Veronica I. Sundgard, numerous cousins and special family friend Carlos De La Riva.
A celebration of life will take place on Saturday, July 9, 2022, from 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM with a memorial service at 1:00 PM at Salinas Funeral Home - Chapel of the Heavens.
