Lydia Ramirez Cuellar

Katy/Weslaco- Lydia Ramirez Cuellar, 87, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, March 21, 2023, at Herman Memorial Hospital in Katy, Texas. Mrs. Cuellar was born on October 17, 1935, to Mrs. Margarita Ramirez Escalante and Santiago Ramirez in Tamaulipas, Mexico. Mrs. Cuellar immigrated to Weslaco in 1942 with her mother and 7 siblings at the age of 7.

Mrs. Cuellar enjoyed raising her 7 children in Weslaco, Tx, where they were graduates of Weslaco High School. Her joy was watching her sons play Panther football and her daughters play in the WHS band/cheerleading. Mrs. Cuellar moved to Houston in 1986 to be with her family in Katy and San Antonio, TX.

Mrs. Cuellar is preceded in death by her son, Policarpo Cuellar Jr., her son-in-law C. Robin Kirk (Houston); her brothers, Prudencio E. Ramirez (Seabrook, TX.) Benigno Ramirez (Pasadena, TX.) Julio and Benigno Ramirez (MX.) and her mother Margarita Escalante Ramirez (Houston, TX). Left to cherish her memories are her sons, Faustino Cuellar Jr., Jose Oscar (Aurora) Cuellar Sr.; her daughters, Maria Irma Stevens, Brenda Harger, Maryanne (David) Villarreal, Maggie Cuellar Kirk; her sisters, Maura Ramirez Garza, Angelica Escalante Balli; 14 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.

Visitation for Mrs. Lydia Ramirez Cuellar is scheduled for Thursday, March 30, 2023, from 3:00 pm to 9:00 pm with a Holy Rosary at 7:00 pm at Salinas Funeral Home- Chapel of the Angels. A Funeral Mass is scheduled for Friday, March 31, 2023, at 10:00 am at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church in Weslaco. Interment will follow at Highland Memorial Park in Weslaco.

Funeral services have been entrusted to Salinas Funeral Home of Elsa, Texas.
