Shawnee, KS. - Marcello Vela, 42, passed away Tuesday, August 29, 2023 at Advent Health Center.
Mr. Vela was born January 26, 1981 in Weslaco, Texas, son of Federico Vela Jr. and Sara Solis Vela. He is preceded in death by his mother Sara S. Vela and a brother, Freddy Vela; his grandparents, Mary del Carmen Vela and Federico Vela.
Left to cherish his memories is his son, Jeremy Vela; his father Federico Vela Jr.: ; brother, Markos Vela (Abilene); his sister, Miranda Vela (Carlos); his grandfather, Vicente Solis Sr. Also surviving him are his nephews, Malachi Vela and Markos Vela Jr. and a niece Allison S. Vela.
Marcello called "Cello" by his closest friends was a devoted father to his son, Jeremy. loved famiily member and friend. Marcello truly lived life to he fullest through simple pleasures, chatting, having cookouts or going out to eat, watching his Kansas City Chiefs play and spending time with his friends and family. Marcello had an uncanny ability to reach people in a deep and positive way. He had a remarkable ability to connect with people, share himself and evoke that same spirit of love in each person he knew. Everyone knew Cello was strong willed and stubborn at times, but he also had an enormous heart and wonderful sense of humor. He was generous, loyal and brave, He will be remembered for all the love he shared with his friends and family. He truly loved each of them and if you knew him you knew it. Marcello was diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer in September 2022 even though none us will ever understand he loved us so much that he hid his pain every day so we wouldnt worry and continued being himself with everyone. We had hope, faith, and love that God had different plans but only God knows why he needed Marcello more than we did. After a brave battle surrounded by family he peacefully entered imto rest. His legacy will never be forgotten it wil continue to live o throught his son, family and friends always.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 6, 2023 from 3:00 pm to 9:00 pm with a rosary at 7:00 pm at Salinas Funeral Home - Chapel of Grace in Weslaco. Funeral chapel service is scheduled for Thursday, September 7,2023 at 10:00 am at Salinas Funeral Home with interment to follow at Val Verde Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Donna.
