Maria Guadalupe Vela

Brownsville - Maria Guadalupe Vela, 60, passed away Saturday, March 20, 2021 at Valley Baptist Medical Center in Harlingen.

Mrs. Vela was born June 14, 1960 in Cardenas, San Luis Potosi, Mexico, daughter of Faustino Chaires and Maria Filemena Sanchez. She is preceded in death by her father; brother, Roberto Chaires and a sister, Elizabeth Chaires.

Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Gerardo Vela; children, Erika Vela, Gerardo Vela Jr., Guadalupe Celestino Vela; her mother; brothers, Jose Chaires, Faustino Chaires, Saul Chaires, Juan Chaires; sisters, Maria Eguia, Teresa Morales,Alicia Tirado, Elizabeth Chaires, Filomena Chaires, Yesenia Chaires. Also surviving her are 2 grandchildren.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, March 21, 2021 from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. with a 6 p.m. rosary at Salinas Funeral Home-Chapel of the Angels in Brownsville. Graveside services will be held on Monday, March 22, 2021 at 10 a.m. at Guillen Community Cemetery.

Funeral services have been entrusted to Salinas Funeral Home in Brownsville.
