Sara Josefina Vessels

April 26, 1942 — November 28, 2024

Brownsville - Sara Josefina Trevino Vessels passed away peacefully at Brownsville Rehab & Nursing Home Center early, on Thanksgiving Day, November 28th. She received her bachelor's degree in education from Texas A&M University in Kingsville and was a Brownsville ISD school teacher for nearly 40 years.

Sara was a loving, generous person dedicated to family and friends. She was a devoted Christian and member of Good Shepherd Community Church where she volunteered in various ministries. She was a blessing to everyone she encountered.

She is preceded in death by her parents Francisco Trevino and Sara Longoria Trevino; her husband: Darrold Irving Vessels and her brothers: Francisco Jr, Gil and Leonel (Leo) Trevino.

She is survived by her children Steven (Lindsay) Richard, and Vanessa (Kyle) Vessels and grandchildren: Dalton, Kailey, Mackenna, MiKayla, MyLee, SaraKate, and Page Vessels. Her siblings include Nellie (Ruben) Garcia, Benilde (Ralph) Proscia, Concepcion (Glen) Eason, Celia C (Allen) Gillies, Alejandro (Marcella) Trevino, Homero (Lupita)Trevino and Yvonne (Richard) Smith.

Memorial Services will be held on Thursday, December 12, 2024, at 10:00 AM, at Salinas Funeral Home - Chapel of the Angels located on 3955 Jaime J Zapata Ave., Brownsville, Tx. Followed by interment at the VA Cemetery in Mission, Texas, at 2:00 PM. There will be no procession.

Honored to be Pall Bearers are Steven and Rick Vessels, Bobby and Ricky Castaneda, Juan Jose (J J) Villarreal, and Ruben Garcia.
