Silvina Gonzalez

Mercedes, Texas - Silvina Gonzalez, 92, passed away to be with the Lord on February 6, 2024 peacefully at her residence surrounded by her loved ones.

Silvina was born on April 1, 1931 in Hidalgo Nuevo Leon, Mexico to Mr. Teodoro Peralez & Mrs. Domitila Coronado Peralez.

Silvina was a resilient, remarkable woman, raising 11 children and frequently spent time with her many grandchildren. Friendly and compassionate, she enjoyed visiting friends and enertaining her neighbors. When you would come over to visit, she was often chatting with a neighbor, tending to something cooking on the stove, always delighted to see you.

She was a prayer warrior, fiercely devoted to her faith. You might often find her carefully reading her worn Bible, which she loves to discuss with anyone who would listen. Every week she would drive a car full of women to church and spend countless hours in prayer and service, sometimes making two trips because there were so many friends to bring.

She loved to watch and listen to birds, and enjoyed growing beautiful flowers. She had a home full of curiousities and dolls and would smile and laugh when her grandchildren explored her collection. Her grandkids would always look forward to visiting her house and loved leaving with one of her treasures. She was stubborn and independent - determined to do things her way and on her terms. She also was full of wit, surprisingly funny and very observant. She loved her family very much.

She is preceded in death by both of her parents, her husband Miguel Gonzalez Sr.., her sons Miguel Gonzalez Jr. (Elma) and Venancio "Vene" (Alma) Gonzalez and her daughter Delia Maria Gonzalez.

Silvina Gonzalez is survived by her sons Armando (Sylvia) and Ruben Gonzalez, her daughters; Gloria (+Lucio) De Los Santos, Ester (Ricardo) Gonzalez, Rosalinda (Esteban) Casarez, Sylvia (Ismael) Gonzales, Nohemi (Eduardo) Infante, Maria Elena (Juvenal) Briones, and numerous granchildren and great grandchildren.

She will be remembered when we hear birds chirp and sing or see a beautiful flower, and it is a comfort knowing she is at peace with the Lord.

Visitation for Silvina Gonzalez is scheduled for Friday, February 09, 2024 from 9:00 AM to 9:00 PM with a Prayer Service at 7:00 PM at Rio Life Community Church in Mercedes. A Funeral Service is scheduled for Saturday, February 10,2024 at 9:00 AM at Rio Life Community Church in Mercedes. Interment will follow at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church Cemetery in Mercedes.

Funeral Arrangements have been entrusted to Salinas Funeral Home of Weslaco.
